According to Reports, as many as 35 bloggers are currently in jail, some of them with sentences as long as 13 years.
The new law, called Decree 72, which went into effect September 1, seeks to limit social websites and blogs to the exchanging of personal information, and forbids the posting of material from news stories online.
It also requires foreign internet companies to have their local servers in Vietnam, and bans online publication of any material that ‘harms national security’.-

Now the Question is, How does that concern Linda Ikeji and.. well other bloggers (cos she is undoubtedly the biggest and personally; The Best)
Do you remember Last year, Precisely in July 2012, Our Dear Senate President David Mark stated:
Mark had last thursday, while declaring open a two-day retreat for Senate Press corps in Umuahia, Abia State, reportedly said the check became necessary as people used the media to demean their leaders. He added that there was no opportunity for retraction of information in such media.

The scary thing is his preceding statement thus:
The scary thing is his preceding statement thus:
"We need to change our attitude on how we report things about our country and we should emulate the foreign reporters who never report negative things about their countries."
If he is a man of his words, which i am so sure he is (or would he claim otherwise); he would be seriously looking at the Vietnam example, and "emulate", just as he would like reporters to "emulate".
This is actually a call for Nigerians and Internet users within Africa to stand against any move to restrict our Right to association, amongst every other "Right" the move would violate.
After All we would not want our dear Linda Ikeji or any blogger to be arrested and charged with being an enemy of the state.
